I'm driving down this country road

You run into some of the most wonderful places in some of the most mundane locations.

August 20th, 2022 and I'm driving down this country road and I see this before me. I stop and exit the car, while I'm framing the shot a truck full of good old boys comes up behind me. I wave them on. The looks on their faces is one of, "Who is this idiot?"

But in my head and heart I'm hearing this passage from Chapter 23 of The Lord of the Rings:

"Drowning in darkness, he reached out, searching for a hold.

Help.

Please. Help.

I can't go on.

Please.

I want to stay.

I want to live."

So many times my journey has felt like one without hope, lost in the wilderness without a Moses to guide me, and then I spy a light at the end of a tunnel. And I move forward, each step an effort, like walking through a quagmire. But I move towards the light. Surely there must be hope, at least for one more day.
