Union Level

In May of 2020 I visited Union Level, a ghost town without even one poltergeist.

"Founded in 1840’s as a way station for wagons and stagecoaches, Union Level had more businesses than South Hill in the 1860’s. It had as many as 20 businesses from 1920-1940. These included four general stores, two barber shops, a bank, a pharmacy, three garages, a boarding house, and a motorcycle dealership."

The horse and carriage lines that had made the town a bustling center of activity were replaced by the Southern Railroad line. When the trains stopped running, so did the town. By the 1970s the population had dwindled down to a census level of twenty people.

This was a community Yard Sale going on during my visit. It was the spookiest part of my visit.
